The Corkscrew Member Lecture Series continues the first Friday of each month from January through April 2025. These free, hour-long presentations are offered at 11 a.m. and cover a variety of conservation topics including shorebirds of Southwest Florida, hydrology, drones and wetland monitoring, and orchids and bromeliads!

March 7, 2025: Jacob Zetzer, Restoration Technician - “A Bird’s Eye View: The Use of Drones in Wetland Monitoring”

Come take flight with us and explore Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary through detailed maps, images, and videos created and captured using Audubon-owned and operated drones. Learn how researchers at the Sanctuary are using drones to access larger and more remote areas of the swamp to monitor plant communities in restoration sites beyond the boardwalk. The lecture will also highlight how drones are being used to conduct foraging wading bird surveys and their role in future monitoring projects.

Drones are flown by a Federal Aviation Administration licensed operator for research purposes only. Use of drones by visitors on Audubon property is prohibited.

These lectures are free and exclusive to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary members.
