Kristina O’Hern has joined the staff at Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary as Volunteer Engagement Coordinator. Her career has deep roots in the non-profit sector and spans across various community-based organizations. Most recently, Kristina served as Program Director of Florida Dreamcatchers, a comprehensive, adventure-based youth mentoring organization that connects underserved students growing up in Immokalee to caring adult and peer volunteer mentors. A key component of her work included exposing the students to environmental education, wilderness exploration, travel, and camping.
Prior to working in youth development, Kristina held certification as an accredited representative through the U.S. Department of Justice.
Kristina is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota where she earned a B.A. in Elementary and K-12 Education with a Specialty in World Languages and Cultures. Kristina is fluent in Spanish and has been a Florida resident for more than a decade. She is passionate about relationship building and working together to advance a common goal.
