The artwork of Tim Parker will be the opening display in Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary's 2018-19 Gallery Cafe Artists Series. Parker's exhibit opens October 1, 2018 and runs through the end of November. Visitors will have a chance to meet the artist from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018.
Parker is best known for figurative abstracts in oil, acrylic and mixed media on canvas and acid-free boards that reflect the influence of his 18-year career in the New York high-end fashion, fragrance and cosmetic industries.
After studying art at Parsons School of Design in New York City, Parker went on to earn his master’s degree in art education at Adelphi University. He then embarked upon a 22-year career working in New York as an illustrator, graphic designer and creative director. In the latter capacity, he worked in marketing, branding and advertising for high-end fashion, fragrance and cosmetic companies. His work revolved around fashion and cosmetic images, which can be seen today in his abstract figurative work.
Eventually, Parker decided to concentrate on art full time. Lured by Southwest Florida's reputation as a thriving and vibrant art market, he relocated to Naples, Florida. Parker's style involves an exploration of the interaction between texture, expressive brush strokes, vibrant color and the human figure, and he employs this same unique approach when painting other motifs, such as landscapes, wildlife, and still lifes. The net result are paintings that allow viewers to see multiple facets and dimensions in and throughout his body of work.
Parker’s work is now shown in various select galleries throughout the country as well as his own gallery Art2D Gallery/Studio and online at Art2Dstudio.com. His work is also collected internationally and can be found in numerous corporate and private collections.
Parker's art will be available for purchase, and sales benefit the Sanctuary. The Gallery Café is located inside the Blair Visitor Center, 375 Sanctuary Road, Naples, FL 34120. Hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
